Why fly six hours west

Four landscapes most people
never knew China had.

Xinjiang is larger than Malaysia, Singapore and Korea combined — three times over. You don't see it in a weekend. You see it on a road trip.

Kanas & Hemu Village Best Jun – Oct

Kanas & Hemu Village

Turquoise glacial water, log-cabin villages, and morning mist you'll photograph before breakfast.

The Duku Highway Open Jun – Sep

The Duku Highway

560 km across the Tianshan range — desert to alpine snow in a single day's drive.

Kashgar Old Town All year

Kashgar Old Town

Two thousand years of Silk Road trade, still a working bazaar. Naan ovens, spice stalls, mosques.

Ili Grasslands & Lavender Fields Lavender: mid-June

Ili Grasslands & Lavender Fields

Horses on open meadow, purple fields to the horizon, and the Sayram Lake shoreline at sunset.

2026 departures

Three routes, one custom option.

Every trip is private or capped at 12 people. Prices are land-only, per person, twin share.

Timing

When to come, honestly.

Some months are genuinely better than others. We'd rather tell you now than have you arrive to a closed mountain pass.

Apr – May

Blossom & quiet

Apricot valleys in Hotan, empty Kashgar streets, the lowest prices of the year. Duku Highway still closed.

12–22°CDaytime
Jun – Aug

The cool escape

Lavender in mid-June, every pass open, grasslands at their greenest. Books out 8–10 weeks ahead.

18–26°CMountains
Sep – Oct

Golden autumn

Birch and poplar turn gold across Kanas and Hemu. The photographer's month — crisp, dry, clear.

8–20°CDaytime

Snow villages

Kanas becomes a snow village and Altay has real ski slopes. The southern route stays fully open.

Xinjiang has halal food in every town. We book Muslim-owned restaurants, brief the driver on prayer times, and route past mosques for Friday prayers.

Singapore and Malaysia passports enter China visa-free for 30 days under a mutual agreement. Korean passports are covered by China's 30-day visa-free scheme, currently running to 31 Dec 2026.

"We were nervous about the food, honestly. Every single meal was halal and our driver knew exactly where to stop for prayers. My mother cried at Karakul Lake."

"Left Singapore at 33°C and stood in a jacket at Kanas the next evening. No shopping stops, no pressure, no hidden fees. That alone was worth it."

"Our guide spoke Korean, which my parents needed. The autumn colours in Hemu were better than any photo I had seen. Booked October, would book October again."

Before you ask

The questions we get every week.

Do I need a visa?

Singapore and Malaysian passport holders enter mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days under a mutual exemption agreement. Korean passport holders are covered by China's 30-day unilateral visa-free policy, currently extended to 31 December 2026. Policies do change — we check your specific passport before you book, and we'll tell you straight if anything has shifted.

How do I get to Xinjiang?

Fly into Urumqi (URC) or Kashgar (KHG). From Singapore and Kuala Lumpur the usual routing is via Guangzhou, Chengdu or Xi'an — roughly 9 to 12 hours in total. From Seoul, via Xi'an or direct depending on season. Send us your city and we'll come back with the two or three best routings and current fares.

Is it safe?

Yes. Street crime is close to non-existent and the roads are well maintained. You will pass through ID checkpoints on long drives — bring your passport, keep it on you, and your guide handles the rest. Guests routinely tell us they felt safer than at home.

Will my phone and apps work?

Bring international roaming or an eSIM bought before you arrive — roaming from your home carrier generally reaches WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, Google and Instagram normally. A local Chinese SIM will not. We send exact instructions with your booking confirmation.

How much driving is there?

Xinjiang is vast, so some days are long — 5 to 6 hours behind the wheel on the Duku Highway or the Pamir run. We build in rest days and photo stops, and we tell you the drive time for every single day before you pay anything. Want it slower? We'll rebuild the route.

What does booking involve?

Message us, get a day-by-day plan within 24 hours, revise it as many times as you like. When you're happy, a 30% deposit holds the dates and the balance is due 14 days before arrival. Free cancellation up to 30 days out.

Can you run a private trip for just my family?

That's most of what we do. Two people is enough for a private car, guide and driver. Larger family or company groups get a coach and a second guide. The per-person price drops as the group grows.
